Volunteering

At Muktangan, we are always looking for volunteers to support our essential work. You can get involved here in the UK or jet off to India to help out!

Volunteer for the UK Trust

The UK Trust is run entirely by volunteers, so we are always looking for new people to help our organisation to grow. This might be helping us raise money by fundraising or lending your expertise in marketing and communications. If you're interested in getting involved, contact us and we'll be in touch to discuss how best you can help.

Volunteer in India

We are offering you the chance to travel to India and work in one of Muktangan's seven schools. At Muktangan, you could be teaching children, training teachers or carrying out essential research. Your time volunteering with us will give you the chance to immerse yourself in a new culture, boost your CV and make a real difference!

To apply, send us your CV and a cover letter telling us about you to our email address. From there, we will forward your application to the India team, who will arrange an interview with you. Successful applicants will need to provide two references, complete a DBS check and sign our safeguarding policy.

Although we currently do not offer funding for our India volunteer placements, we will be your point of contact, on hand to offer you any support you need before, during or after your placement.

Volunteering at Muktangan: Holly's story

"My internship at Muktangan was an amazing experience, the staff were all so friendly and welcoming which was nice as I had never experienced anything quite like Muktangan before!"

"I interned at one of the Muktangan schools, and the Teacher Training College, where I conducted a research project as part of my degree. The staff and students were all very supportive of my project and helped in all ways possible. Whilst at Muktangan I also helped plan a presentation for the donors of the foundation and sat in with the children in their design for change projects, which they were also presenting.

"Overall I had a great time interning with Muktangan, and would recommend it to anyone who was thinking of gaining some experience in another county. I felt safe and had lots of fun in Mumbai, where I stayed in a hostel arranged by the Trust. Within the hostel our roommates all lived in Mumbai, and took us to see the sights and markets in our spare time, they also recommended day trips for us which we did every Sunday. It was nice to be so enriched within the culture of Mumbai, and it was definitely hard to catch that flight home in the end."
